Unexpected Outcomes from Teachers' TV
Tanner, Ruth
Mathematics Teaching Incorporating Micromath, n199 p28-30 Nov 2006
In this article, the author explains why she has unexpectedly become a fan of Teacher's TV. It started when she was asked to show some clips from Teachers' TV as part of a workshop she was leading. She dutifully accepted a CD containing three downloaded programmes about using ICT to teach mathematics and put it into her laptop. Within a few minutes she had a very strong urge to stop the programme; but not, as she had expected, because it was a waste of time, but because the programme was inspiring her and she wanted to try out some of the ideas for herself! Having watched all three programs she could begin to see how useful they could be, for example, at the start of a twilight training session with tired teachers or for individuals to use to extend their use of dynamic geometry. She said watching Teachers' TV has resulted in some very unexpected outcomes for her. (Contains 8 figures and 1 note.)
