Janus Job Interview Guide. Revised Edition.
Livingstone, Arnold
Designed for below-average-reading-level students, the purpose of this interview guide is to help young job seekers prepare for the job interview process. The first three chapters explain the nature of the personal job interview, the steps to be followed in preparing for a job interview, and the do's and don't's of the interview itself. The remainder of the guide is comprised of fifteen job interviews, one for each of the occupational clusters defined by the U.S. Office of Education. Interviews are provided for the following job titles: clerk-typist, cannery worker, supermarket clerk, dining room attendant, electronics assembler, fish wholesaler's assistant, hospital attendant, paste-up assistant, paving construction worker, potter's apprentice, forestry worker, dog groomer, hotel bellhop, parking-enforcement officer, and airplane cleaner. Following each interview is a page of exercises. The exercises are designed for students to check their factual comprehension of the reading, analyze what they have read and observed in the interview, and rate the applicant accordingly. A puzzle on each exercise page helps enrich and extend the student's learning. A teacher's manual is appended. (LRA)
