This guide provides teachers with activities that can initiate an awareness of the New York city-wide traffic safety campaign and reinforce safety education. It contains the following: (1) background information on safety rules for teachers; (2) curriculum topics that can include traffic safety issues; (3) class- and school-wide activities for elementary and secondary levels; (4) activities for early childhood; (5) student activity sheets with student objectives and suggestions to the teacher; and (6) a questionnaire with which teachers may evaluate the activates provided. Topics covered include crossing streets, hand signals for bicyclists, traffic signs, pedestrian casualties, and drunk driving. (PS)
