Handbook for Driving Knowledge Testing.

Materials intended for driving knowledge test development for use by operational licensing and education agencies are presented. A pool of 1,313 multiple choice test items is included, consisting of sets of specially developed and tested items covering principles of safe driving, legal regulations, and traffic control device knowledge pertinent to passenger car and light truck operation. Statistical and normative data from testing Iowa driver education students, Coast Guard recruits, and Michigan driver license applicants are provided with the items. In addition to a description of the development program that produced the item pool, the report provides recommendations for use of the item pool and reviews some of the fundamental principles of good test construction process.
