The purpose of this study was to find out the elementary school principals' level of practicing democratic values while managing their schools, according to teachers' perceptions. The results show that Turkish elementary principals are doing well in having democratic values in general. However, some values were more well practiced or reflected than others in daily administrative tasks. Principals' high-level democratic values include sensitivity, the pursuit of happiness, and respect for life. Their moderate-level democratic values are cooperation, freedom, justice, responsibility, and tolerance. Low-level values include self-confidence, equality, and honesty. To train principals to have high-level democratic values, special attention must be given to the principal training programs. (Contains 6 tables.)
