This generic qualitative inquiry explored the perceptions of adult males regarding their counseling for trauma experiences. Through that exploration, literature was enhanced considering the information processing theory. Individual interviews of 10 men were conducted using semi-structured, open-ended questions. Braun and Clarke's thematic analysis was applied in analyzing the collected data. The generic qualitative inquiry delivered intense descriptions and analyses of each of the participants' perceptions about their counseling for trauma experiences. The findings bring insight to the field of counselor education and supervision relevant to the specific counseling needs of adult males who have received counseling for trauma. As well, the study illuminated the necessity for training specific to working with males who seek counsel for trauma. The suggestions and recommendations of this study extend to training counselors, counselor educators, supervisors, and the counseling profession as a whole.
