After receiving notification from administration that faculty could enroll in six semester hours cost-free, Tiffany F. Culver began to consider taking classes. Once she had enrolled in a master's-level counseling course, she soon discovered that she was totally lacking in the student experience as she navigated through frustrating advances in technology. She began to understand what it was like to be dependent upon technology to succeed in a course or degree program, and the overwhelming feelings of frustration. Culver also learned that many other students do not fully understand what constitutes cheating, and realized that instructors should spend some time in the beginning of the semester discussing cheating. The most valuable lesson Culver took away with her in view of the dramatic changes in the student experience over the last 10 years was that instructors need to remain open-minded in continuing their own education in order to design appropriate and meaningful instructional strategies to best serve their students.
