This is a list of films suitable for children and adolescents up to the age of 16, compiled from 37 lists sent in by 22 countries and in accordance with the recommendations of the conference on the exhibition and distribution of films for children and adolescents, under the patronage of UNESCO. Approximately 1000 films which run for over 40 minutes are listed and about 500 whose running time is shorter. Listing is by country of origin and title. Films especially produced for children and adolescents are named first, followed by those selected from standard production. Short documentaries and films in which insufficient information was available are excluded. The shorter films are limited to entertainment--puppet or cartoon--films. Information about each film is given when known, in this order--original title, production organization, date of production, director, music, cast, running time, sound or silent, black and white or color, size, and short summary. A final heading shows the organizations which recommended each film and age group for which the film is intended. An appendix gives a list of producers and, if known, their addresses.
