Long Range Master Plan for Maricopa County Community College District, 1978-2000.
Tadlock Associates, Los Altos, CA.; Maricopa County Community Coll. District, Phoenix, AZ.
This technical report analyzes community characteristics, projects growth, and suggests the development of educational delivery systems to meet Maricopa County Community College District's needs up to the year 2000. Assumptions in this planning effort include: (1) that the base components of the system will be regional campuses planned for 5,000 full-time equivalent day students; (2) that each population region will be served by a campus or learning center; (3) that the bulk of noncampus-centered education and service activities will be organized through the district's "college-without-walls"; (4) that the district will enroll a headcount equal to 3.5% of the area population; (5) that the part-time student ratio will increase from 1.9:1 to 2:1; (6) that new campuses will be opened when the service area population reaches 170,000; and (7) that each campus will have its own special programs or learning systems. The district service areas are described as is the current educational delivery system. Recommendations entail the expansion of existing campuses and of specific facilities. Campus development costs are also outlined. Data tables and illustrations are included throughout the document and appendices contain definitions of service areas and a list of data sources. (MB)
