The International Study Association on Teacher Thinking (ISATT) believes that what teachers do is a result of what teachers think. The 1983 and 1985 (ISATT) conferences focused on researchers' conceptions of teachers and teaching and conceptual frameworks and methodological problems being used in current research. (RM)

The case study is justified as a viable and valuable approach to educational research and program evaluation. Critiques of three common epistemological justifications of case study are provided, and four strategies for making the case for case study are discussed. (RM)

Analyzes the processes used to evaluate School-centered Innovation programs (SCI) in the United Kingdom. A review of the literature revealed that accounts of most of the programs are not evaluative but mostly anecdotal and descriptive. Limitations of the research on SCI are discussed. (AM)
