The Concordat to Support Research Integrity: A Progress Report
Contracts
Universities UK
Published in July 2012, "The Concordat to Support Research Integrity" set out five broad commitments to be made by institutions in receipt of public research funding, to help assure the government and the public that UK research meets the highest ethical, legal and professional standards. This progress report explores the impact and experience of the concordat in the four years since.? Based on evidence received from a range of stakeholders and gathered through a variety of means, the report examines the dissemination and awareness of the concordat, the nature of its reception, and the manner and extent to which universities have responded in order to meet the five commitments. The report also makes recommendations for how the sector can be supported to achieve its ambitions in this area, and in assuring funders, the government and the wider public that research in UK universities is underpinned by the highest levels of integrity. Contains the following annexes: (1) Membership of the Research Integrity Concordat Working Group; (2) About This Report; (3) Requirements of Major UK Funders; (4) Additional References; and (5) Data on Allegations of Research Misconduct. [This progress report was commissioned by the eight founding signatories of the Concordat to support research integrity (the concordat). The UK Research Integrity Office, the Russell Group, and the University Alliance supported this report by garnering feedback from their members.]
