Perkes, A. Cordell – School Science and Mathematics, 1978
Reports a study to assess teachers attitudes toward death-related issues. A questionnaire was given to 61 teachers in a graduate education course. It was found that the teachers tended to favor liberal abortion laws (67 percent), euthanasia (83 percent), and the majority (65 percent) believed in life after death. (SLH)

Gressard, Clarice; Loly, Brenda H. – School Science and Mathematics, 1985
Investigated the effects of age and participation in a computer-related staff development program on elementary, junior high, and high school teachers' (N-4l) computer attitudes. Results indicate that anxiety about computers was significantly decreased while confidence/liking were increased and that age was not a significant factor. (DH)

Lawrenz, Frances – School Science and Mathematics, 1985
Describes changes in teacher attitudes after completion of an inservice energy education workshop. Although there was a decrease in favorable attitudes towards curricular change, there was a modest, positive effect on participants (N=132) which should help to promote energy education. (DH)

Lawrenz, Frances – School Science and Mathematics, 1986
Determined if, after in-service programs, teachers' attitudes toward energy conservation were transferred to their students (including fourth-grade, seventh-grade, and high school students). Results (based on correlations) indicate that the hoped-for transfer of teacher attitudes toward energy to their students may not take place. (JN)

Carey, Russell L. – School Science and Mathematics, 1977
Perceptions of science teaching goals are reported from a state-wide survey of 1,078 students and 433 educators in Iowa. Data from the Educational Goal Inventory indicates that 4 of the 8 science goals were of marginal importance to students; ratings from educators were higher. Implications for science in the 1970's are discussed. (CS)

Kennedy, Thomas G. – School Science and Mathematics, 1973
Studied differences in preservice elementary teachers' attitudes toward concept science and science processes on the basis of semantic differential score gains in the pre- and posttest design. Concluded that process approach instruction in methods courses was effective in securing changes in a positive direction. (CC)

Pempek, Louise C.; Blick, David J. – School Science and Mathematics, 1973
Presents evaluation of the effectiveness of the Cooperative College-School Science Program by determining if it produced statistically significant changes in attitudes and classroom behaviors of teachers. Results indicated that the project was beneficial in changing attitudes of elementary science teachers, especially in cases of teachers with…
