Purpose was to determine what parents want and the degree to which they value psychoeducational reports prepared by school psychologists. The sample (N=44) consisted of parents whose children were seen as out-patients of the UCLA Learning Disorder Clinic. Results showed positive impressions regarding evaluations, usefulness, and content. (Author)

Recent legal developments promise to bring school psychologists increased threat of litigation. Therefore, it is suggested that defensive practices in school psychology are needed. A procedure for dealing with school referrals is presented as a way of possibly reducing the risk of liability for the individual school psychologist. (Author)

Examined the readability of psychoeducational reports and the effectiveness of manipulating report variables to facilitate parental interpretation (N=114). The data indicated that traditional reports are written above the reading level of most parents, but modification of selected report variables facilitates parental interpretation. (JAC)

The present study examined the relationship between the psychological evaluation reports of test examiners and the referral questions of classroom teachers. Data were analyzed using a 2 x 2 chi square analysis. Results indicated a biasing effect when examiners were knowledgeable about the reasons for referral. (Author)

Examined the usefulness of terminology in psychoeducational reports with students, teachers, and psychology interns rating the usefulness of 25 terms frequently found in reports. Results showed significant differences in usefulness ratings, depending on major, category, and whether or not the rater had taken a special education course. (WAS)
