Classroom verbal behaviors of 33 elementary student teachers were correlated with second, third, and fourth grade pupils' evaluations of teaching performance. Results revealed that teachers who were more indirect in classroom interaction received significantly higher ratings from pupils on classroom procedures and interpersonnal skills. (JD)

This study focused on an analysis of teachers' perception of the concept of on-task in order to understand better how research results are interpreted and utilized by classroom teachers. The relative influence of scholastic achievement, intelligence, athletic ability, and ethnic origin on the formation of friendships among pupils in two Israel elementary schools was explored. A study examined the effect of varying degrees of feedback on students' perceptions of classroom climate and the resulting reactions toward school. Students involved in feedback intervention showed positive gains in their attitudes toward the school environment. The Group Climate Survey given to the students is appended. (JN)

The relationships among self-concept, classroom interaction, and academic achievement were investigated in this study of preadolescent elementary school students. Results indicate that the low self-concept students showed more social withdrawal, academic difficulties, and inappropriate attention than did students with high self-concepts. (JN)
