Brief Report: Postural Reactivity to Fast Visual Motion Differentiates Autistic from Children with Asperger Syndrome.
Gepner, Bruno; Mestre, Daniel R.
Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders, v32 n3 p231-38 Jun 2002
Comparison of children (n=6) with either autism or Asperger syndrome (AS) and children (n=9) with neither condition found overall postural instability was significantly reduced in autistic children compared with both AS and normal children and confirms the existence of a visuo-postural detuning in autistic children. Results suggest a visuo-cerebellar pathway deficit hypothesis in autism. (Contains references.) (Author/DB)
