Several innovative philosophers, creators of systematic theoretical systems, have made their impact on Turkish educational thought since the turn of the century. A range of positions about education which have emerged during Turkey's modernization process are discussed. (SM)

Considers the genesis of Dewey's approach to the systematic study of education and investigates some of the reasons his approach to educational inquiry did not endure as well as those of Edward L.
