Reviews the European response to U.S. women's colleges. Contends that most international visitors believed that the United States was the world leader in women's rights in the latter part of the nineteenth century. Discusses the organization and implementation of youth education and work programs by the occupying allies in post- World War II Germany. Initial efforts at youth denazification were divided between punitive and rehabilitative approaches. Support from German churches favored rehabilitation efforts. (MJP)
