AACRAO Research: A Year in Review 2019
Kilgore, Wendy
College and University, v95 n2 p39-48 May 2020
2019 was a bit different from previous years for the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) Research. Since they had six larger-scale research projects (of which several were calendared over the summer months), they did not want to overly burden their members with surveys. This resulted in four 60-Second Surveys for the year instead of the typical six. The 60-Second Survey topics were: (1) Registrar staff size; (2) Student success initiatives; (3) Territory management; and (4) Transcript formats. Additional research topics included: (1) Brand management use in recruiting high school seniors; (2) Applicant to admit: an examination of how institutions admit the freshmen class; (3) Chief admissions officer career profile: (4) Prior learning assessment (PLA) institutional practices and related student PLA experiences survey; (5) Excess credits at graduation; and (6) Academic records and transcript practice. The purpose of this article is to provide a single source of research finding takeaways from 2019. Included in this article is a brief introduction of the research topics and summary of the key findings, which have been modified slightly from the original reports.
