Emotional Competence and Willingness To Seek Help from Professional and Nonprofessional Sources.
Ciarrochi, Joseph V.; Deane, Frank P.
British Journal of Guidance & Counselling, v29 n2 p233-46 May 2001
Survey of 300 undergraduates assesses emotional competence, hopelessness, willingness to seek help from health professionals and nonprofessionals, and perceived usefulness of past help-seeking experience. Results reveal that those who felt less skilled at managing emotions were less willing to seek help from family and friends for emotional problems and suicidal ideation or help from health professionals for suicidal ideation.
