Revising.
Wyman, Linda, Ed.
Missouri English Bulletin, v41 n6 Jul 1983
In focusing on recursive writing, the nine articles in this journal issue suggest that student writing should be taken seriously. The first article states that revision should occur throughout the writing process while the second discusses how to invite writers to become active readers of their own texts. The third article presents methods of modeling revision for students and helping them resee and rework their own writing; the fourth discusses one way of reconciling revision and the student-teacher writing conference with the realities of high enrollment; and the fifth article suggests that teaching rhetorical character promotes student writing that demonstrates correct rhetorical forms. The sixth article describes a case study of revision in a cooperative writing workshop and the seventh presents several revision strategies developed specifically for basic writers. The eighth article offers strategies that help students overcome psychological barriers to revision while the ninth article suggests that showing students how to hear what they write can help them understand the multidimensional writing process of which revision is a constant part.
