Leading from Within: Teaching Leadership and Spirituality Online
Stenger, Lou
Journal on Excellence in College Teaching, v15 n1-2 p231-241 2004
The author discusses the relationship of spirituality, leadership, and the values-centered mission of Regis University in the context of an online course within the master's in nonprofit management (MNM) degree program. Rest and reflection, personal shadow aspects, and discernment practices are among the elements of the course structure designed to enable students to increase self-knowledge, examine spiritual values, and discuss their impact on leadership. Assignments and exercises within the course design allow students uniquely and creatively to use "isolated" time to meet course objectives and to refine and enhance their leadership development process.
