The instructional booklet explores various occupations in the occupational cluster of manufacturing. In the first chapter, the student is briefly introduced to the occupational cluster concept and to the general area of manufacturing. Chapter 2 describes jobs involved in the production of materials and processing of goods. Chapter 3 discusses manufacturing jobs in distribution, including packaging, marketing, advertising, transportation, and warehousing. Jobs in research are described in chapter 4. In chapter 5, jobs in designing equipment, process, and products are discussed, while the final chapter concerns jobs in management and supervision. Information is provided about various jobs in manufacturing, how they relate to other jobs, and to the general occupational cluster. A fact sheet (listing job titles, educational requirements, and salary ranges) and a list of related SRA (Science Research Associates) materials conclude the booklet. (NJ)
