Sociodemographic Differentials in Mate Selection Preferences.
South, Scott J.
Journal of Marriage and the Family, v53 n4 p928-40 Nov 1991
Used data from over 2,000 respondents in National Survey of Families and Households to examine sociodemographic differentials in stated willingness of individuals to marry persons with various social, economic, and demographic characteristics. Men placed higher value on physical attractiveness and youth; women placed value on earnings and employment stability. Age and racial differences were also found. (Author/NB)
