Does Spirituality Make a Difference? Psychosocial and Health-Related Characteristics of Spiritual Well-Being.
Hammermeister, Jon; Peterson, Margaret
American Journal of Health Education, v32 n5 p293-97 Sep-Oct 2001
Examined relationships among college students' differing levels of spiritual well-being and 11 psycho-social and health-related characteristics. Results revealed that students scoring higher on the spiritual health measure displayed better outcomes on psycho-social measures (e.g., loneliness, self-esteem and hopelessness). Alcohol and drug use significantly discriminated between high and low spiritual well-being groups. (SM)
