Celebrating 25 Years: 1980-2005
McLester, Susan; Poftak, Amy
Technology & Learning, v26 n2 p35 Sep 2005
This article presents a brief history of Classroom Computer News magazine celebrating its 25th anniversary. The authors provide a brief description of each year's important activities and issues that can be remembered in its 25th anniversary. Among other things, during the year 1990, the magazine updates its name to Technology & Learning. The Executives from IBM, Discovery, Jostens, MECC, Commodore, Encyclopedia Britannica, Optical Data, and other companies predict the future of ed tech. This year highlights that technology will close the gap between haves and have-nots, teachers will become managers, and computers will be as common as calculators. Lack of funding for technology remains a problem. In 2005, the magazine's 25th anniversary, T&L takes stock of ed tech's past, present, and future in three special anniversary reports.
