Rediscovering Paideia and the Meaning of a Scholarly Career: Rejoinder to "Identifying Research Topic Development in Business and Management Education Research Using Legitimation Code Theory"
Antonacopoulou, Elena P.
Journal of Management Education, v40 n6 p711-721 Dec 2016
In "Identifying Research Topic Development in Business and Management Education Research Using Legitimation Code Theory," authors J.B. Arbaugh, Charles J. Fornaciari, and Alvin Hwang ("Journal of Management Education," December 2016 vol. 40 no. 6 p654-691, see EJ1118407) used citation analysis to track the development of business and management education (BME) research by uncovering 100 highly cited articles that revolve primarily around four research topical areas: (a) Entrepreneurship Education, (b) Distance Education/Online Teaching and Learning, (c) Business Student Ethics, and (d) Characteristics/Critiques of Business Schools. This article offers a rejoinder to Arbaugh, Fornaciari, and Hwang (2016) and the author writes that she would like to frame the challenge they set--in relation to scholarly contributions and their overall impact in advancing the business and management education field--as more than one of legitimation.
