Re-Thinking Re-Entry: New Approaches to Supporting Students after Study Abroad
Brubaker, Cate
Unterrichtspraxis/Teaching German, v50 n2 p109-119 Fall 2017
While participation in study abroad continues to increase, and both pre-departure and in-country support and interventions have become more robust, the re-entry experience after a program ends still typically takes a back seat to other priorities. Consequently, most students are left to navigate the re-entry transition on their own. This article discusses the challenges that today's study abroad students face in re-entry and presents new ideas and approaches for intentionally guiding returnees through re-entry after studying in a German-speaking country.
