Structural and Supportive Changes in Couples' Family and Friendship Networks across the Transition to Parenthood.

Examines patterns of change in family and friend network with parenthood in 137 couples surveyed before the birth of their first child. Husbands and wives who reported larger network sizes and support prior to their first child's birth were more likely to report larger networks after birth. Changes in parents' social systems were related to parental adjustment and depression. (Author/JDM)
