An Exploration of the Drive for Muscularity in Adolescent Boys and Girls.

Investigated the drive for muscularity among high school adolescents using the Drive for Muscularity Scale. Results indicated that the scale was reliable. High-drive students were mainly boys trying to gain weight and muscle mass. Drive related to poor self-esteem and higher depression levels among boys, but not girls. Drive for muscularity was relatively unrelated to drive for thinness. (SM)
