Managerial Accounting. Study Guide.
Plachta, Leonard E.
This self-instructional study guide is part of the materials for a college-level programmed course in managerial accounting. The study guide is intended for use by students in conjuction with a separate textbook, Horngren's "Accounting for Management Control: An Introduction," and a workbook, Curry's "Student Guide to Accounting for Management Control: An Introduction." The study guide contains eight major units that focus in turn on cost-volume profit analysis, cost behavior and income statement format, flexible budgets, standard cost accounting for control, variations of cost behavior patterns, responsibility accounting and cost allocations, relevant cost analysis for problem-solving, and capital budgeting. Each unit consists of a list of specific performance objectives, a study directory that identifies relevant sections in the text and workbook, a series of practical exercises and an answer key for the exercises, and a self-diagnostic test with answer key. On completion of every two or three units, students are required to take a credit examination. Their grades are based on the scores received on the exams. (JG)
