Our Vision for a Sustainable Wales
Davidson, Jane
Adults Learning, v22 n4 p20-21 Dec 2010
The Welsh Assembly Government is committed to putting sustainable development at the heart of all it does. In May 2009, the Assembly launched its latest scheme, "One Wales: One Planet," which sets out a clear definition of sustainable development as enhancing the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of people and communities, achieving a better quality of life for the present and future generations. The document covers ways to promote social justice and equality of opportunity. It also outlines how to enhance the natural and cultural environment and respect its limits. In this article, the author describes the Assembly's vision for a sustainable Wales and discusses education's vital role in delivering its vision of "one planet" living.
