An Epiphany in a Toilet Factory
Cobb, Catlin
Teaching Artist Journal, v7 n4 p211-218 2009
In this article, the author shares her experiences of the universality of art making and artistic experience of being a dancer and teaching artist. She describes her performance at Kohler, a worldwide leader in plumbing products in Spartanburg, South Carolina, where she had an epiphany dancing in a toilet factory--a sudden, intuitive moment of understanding that allowed her to become more than just a performer. This experience has launched her into another world where communicating the language of dance and surviving its adversities would lay the foundation for teaching.
