Annual Survey of Colleges, 1986-1987. Summary Statistics.
College Entrance Examination Board, New York, NY.
Results of the College Board's Annual Survey of Colleges for 1986-1987 are presented, based on responses from 3,093 two-year and four-year institutions. Data for 1985 and trends for 1980 and 1984 cover undergraduate enrollments, student progress, academic programs, degrees conferred, and student financial aid. While most of the tables present national information broken down by institutional type and control, comparisons by six geographic regions are included. Full-time and part-time enrollments are reported for undergraduates and first-time freshmen, transfer students, ethnic groups, and males and females. Additional information includes: percent of freshmen successfully completing the first year; percent of graduates of two-year and four-year programs who pursue further study; associate and bachelors degrees by general discipline and type of college; admisssions criteria and selectivity; comparison of freshman applications, acceptances, and enrollment; high school curriculum requirements; percentages of institutional grant, loan, and job dollars; and offerings for preadmission summer programs, remedial instruction, cooperative education, and internships. The survey methodology is described, definitions are given for institutionial type, and a list of the six College Board regions is appended. (SW)
