Coping Styles in Youths with Insulin-Dependent Diabetes Mellitus.

Evaluated relationships between two coping styles and two health outcomes in 135 youth with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM). Found that poor adherence to treatment, older adolescent age, and long duration of IDDM correlated with ventilation and avoidance coping. High ventilation and avoidance coping was predicted by high stress, low family cohesion and older adolescent age. (Author/PVV)
