Examining the Relationship of Business Operations and the Information Security Culture in the United States

An increase in information technology has caused and increased in threats towards information security. Threats are malware, viruses, sabotage from employees, and hacking into computer systems. Organizations have to find new ways to combat vulnerabilities and threats of internal and external threats to protect their information security and information security culture. The purpose of this quantitative study is to explore the relationship between information security success factors and the organization's information security culture. This study provides a holistic approach to having a successful information security culture, which included management involvement and employees understanding of information security, aligning business with information technology, information security governances and frameworks, information technology auditing, information security quality, and business intelligence in information security. The researcher provided perspectives of a holistic information security approach in the industry of information technology from scholars, researchers, and practitioners. The researcher used a Pearson Product-Moment Correlation test and Chi-Square test to check the relationship and correlation between the independent variables and dependent variable. The results showed there are correlations and significances between information security success factors and the organization's information security culture. Also, the researcher tested the reliability using the Cronbach Alpha test in SPSS software. The reliability score for the study was 0.962.
