Public Schools Energy Conservation Measures, Report Number 9: Plover Whiting Elementary School, Stevens Point, Wisconsin.
American Association of School Administrators, Arlington, VA.
This report is part of the first phase of the five-part Saving Schoolhouse Energy Project initiated by the American Association of School Administrators and funded partially by the Federal Energy Administration. Presented is an investigation of energy conservation opportunities at Plover Whiting Elementary School, Stevens Point, Wisconsin. This publication summarizes methodology and findings of the building surveys, computer simulations and assessments of the potential for reducing energy consumption. It is estimated that rescheduling lighting and air conditioner usage, resetting thermostats, and reducing air infiltration could preserve fuel use by 70% and current consumption of electricity by 25%. The $4,000 cost could be recovered by reduced energy bills in less than one year. (Author/WB)
