Muskegon Community College Long-Range Plan.
Turner, Peter M.; And Others
Long-range planning assumptions and goals are presented for Muskegon Community College (MCC) as they were submitted by a committee of area citizens. After introductory material summarizing the committee's mandate and activities, the report discusses the fiscal, demographic, curricular, and administrative changes likely to affect MCC during the next five years. Then planning objectives and recommended activities are outlined for 13 areas of concern: (1) on-going curriculum evaluation; (2) maintenance of quality transfer programs and improvement of articulation with four-year colleges; (3) improved staff development and orientation; (4) increased representation of women and minorities in the faculty and administration; (5) institutional research and development; (6) improved student counseling and development; (7) improved linkages with area high schools; (8) development of an Allied Health Educational Center; (9) extension of specialized seminars; (10) improved communications with the community; (11) lack of space on campus; (12) increased cost-effectiveness; and (13) development of a long-term financial base. The report is appended by a statement of MCC's role and purpose and a summary of a community survey which assessed community awareness of the college, needs for additional courses and services, community satisfaction with MCC, and perceptions of the relative importance of various college funding sources.
