Parenthood and Psychological Well-Being among the Formerly Married: Are Children the Primary Source of Psychological Distress?
Hughes, Michael
Journal of Family Issues, v10 n4 p463-81 Dec 1989
Compared impact of parenthood on well-being of formerly married men and women to that of married men and women. Found parenting more strongly related to well-being of men than women, parenting had more impact on formerly married than married, and negative effect of divorce on mental health seemed to be largely explained by effects of parenting.
