Title IA School Improvement Resource Manual, 2004-05. Revised
Oregon Department of Education
The Oregon Department of Education is required by the U.S. Department of Education to establish targets for expected rates of growth for every school in order to close the achievement gap. The Oregon Department of Education will work in partnership with key partners such as ESDs, universities, community-based organizations, and professional organizations to provide technical assistance and support to districts and schools. This shared accountability among the education community will utilize a "capacity building" process that leads to better understanding of the nature of student achievement in the districts, analysis of effective strategies, and development of plans that will lead to student success. The expected outcome is a deeper organizational understanding of how to improve student achievement. This document includes the following sections: (1) Introduction; (2) Title IA School Improvement Timeline; (3) Notification to Parents; (4) Funding Set-Asides for School Improvement; (5) Revision of School Improvement Plan; (6) District Requirement to Provide Technical Assistance to Schools; and (7) Resources.
