Empowering the Middle: A High School Study Skills Program and Its Impact on Academic Achievement and Self-Efficacy
Simmons, Stephanie Yvette
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Trevecca Nazarene University
This study examined the impact of a self-regulatory skills course on the academic achievement and self-efficacy of 11th-grade students. The researcher compared intervention and control groups participants' pre- and posttest scores on the General Self-Efficacy Scale and the Learning and Study Skills Assessment Inventory-High School version. Scores were compared to English end-of-course exam scores, grade point average, and ACT scores. Results indicated that self-regulatory skills did not significantly impact academic achievement or self-efficacy at the high school level.
