Strategic Decision Making in Higher Education: An Analysis of the New Planning System in Dutch Higher Education.

The new strategic planning system in Dutch higher education is described and the usefulness of strategic planning in higher education institutions in general is discussed. Three models are distinguished: linear, adaptive, and interpretive. Evidence suggesting the system has resulted in more homogenization than diversification is presented. (Author/MSE)
