Toward Hazardless Waste: A Guide for Safe Use and Disposal of Hazardous Household Products.

This guide is designed to help individuals make responsible decisions about safe use and disposal of household products. It consists of eight sections dealing with: (1) hazardous chemicals in the home, how hazaradous products become hazardous waste, and whether a hazardous waste problem exists in Puget Sound; (2) which household wastes are hazardous; (3) household hazardous waste routes in King County (Washington); (4) hazardous household products (considering solvents, pesticides and herbicides, automotive wastes, and household cleaners); (5) safety considerations when working with hazardous products; (6) disposal recommendations; (7) what individuals and neighborhood groups can do about household hazardous wastes; and (8) various resources, including energy organizations, federal agencies, other government agencies (state, local, and regional), citizen groups, and environmental organizations.
