As part of the data collection efforts of the San Francisco State University (SFSU) Commission on Human Relations, a survey was conducted of 400 undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at SFSU in the fall 1989 semester. Frequency distributions for each of the 41 items on the survey questionnaire are provided. The questionnaire covered: perceived treatment of groups; personal experience of abuse or discrimination based on gender, race, sexual orientation, religion, disability, national origin; places/sources of abuse (faculty, staff, students, campus police, student newspaper, various student services); a "feeling thermometer" rating of groups; tolerance toward the group liked least; offensiveness ratings; opinions about campus life; sexual harassment (self); sexual harassment (others); importance of characteristics; college friendships; membership in campus organizations; types of feelings during the past year; ratings of proposed programs; number of semesters attended SFSU; transfer student status; full-time or part-time student; class standing; major field of study; foreign student status; residential status; gender; age; marital status; employment status; travel time to campus; income; student financial aid; family financial assistance; parents' income; political ideology; disability; race/ethnicity; religious preference; sexual orientation; and any observed discrimination.
