Scope of ACE in Australia. Volume 1: Implications for Improved Data Collection and Reporting [and] Volume 2: Analysis of Existing Information in National Education and Training Data Collection.
Borthwick, J.; Knight, B.; Bender, A.; Loveder, P.
These two volumes provide information on the scope of adult and community education (ACE) in Australia and implications for improved data collection and reporting. Volume 1 begins with a glossary. Chapter 1 addresses project objectives and processes and methodology. Chapter 2 analyzes the scope and diversity of ACE in terms of what is currently collected and the information made available through research and consultations for this report. Chapter 3 explores these issues: providers' experience of current data collection arrangements; usefulness to providers of data collected currently; gaps in information collected; extent and kind of data used by providers locally; and possible impact of the goods and services tax (GST) on ACE. Chapter 4 considers the feasibility and costs of expanding the current collection requirements. Appendixes include technical notes and a tabular national overview of ACE. Volume 2 is an analysis of existing information in national education and training data collection. Chapter 1 delineates the scope of data collection: activity as reported by representative bodies for ACE providers and organizations; education and training delivered by community centers; and personal enrichment and training activity. Chapter 2 analyzes data by entire ACE sector and six segments of the nationally reported ACE sector (personal enrichment and VET programs categorized by delivery service and reporting method). (YLB)
