The Public School Speaks
Troy, Frosty
School Administrator, v63 n2 p38 Feb 2006
The public school is a 200-year-old experiment that has given America the strongest economy in world history. There are 88,000 buildings in more than 14,000 districts. Public schools embrace more than 48 million children. For most of them, public schools are their only hope for future success. Public schools represent home schooling at its best. Its corridors have known random acts of violence, yet the FBI says a child is safer in public schools than he or she is at home. In this article, the author discusses criticisms being faced by public schools regarding test scores, and other issues. The author discusses the responsibility and good works that public schools have accomplished.
