Team Building.
This document contains four papers presented at a symposium moderated by Allen Church at the 1996 conference of the Academy of Human Resource Development. "Teambuilding Intervention Strategy Development: A Case Study of Two Midwestern Manufacturing Industries" (Paul E. Brauchle, David W. Wright) discusses a qualitative case study of employee empowerment and team building success in two midwestern industries that used different methods of intervention strategy deployment. "Installing, Training, and Rewarding Teams with 'Pay for Knowledge': A Case Study" (Paul Hardt, Johan Haggstrom) presents the results of a study examining the team installation and supervisor training phases of the establishment of a "pay-for-knowledge" incentive system at a midwestern manufacturing facility. Toni Powell's paper "Perceptions of Self-Directed Work Team Members: The Big Picture" discusses the following themes, which were identified during a study of issues facing two self-directed work teams at a midsized manufacturing organization: management support, reward processes, member status, and cohesiveness. "Employee Perceptions of Employee and Organizational Values in a State Department of Corrections" (Jennifer Gail Parsons, William R. Venable, Michael Dee Parsons) discusses the results of in-depth interviews of 19 randomly selected corrections department employees regarding the relationship between personal and organizational values. Papers contain references. (MN)
