Maternal Quality Standards for Children's Television Programs.
Nikken, Peter; And Others
Journal of Educational Media, v22 n1 p41-54 Mar 1996
Investigates the standards mothers use to evaluate four types of children's television programs: (1) cartoons; (2) news programs for children; (3) educational children's programs; and (4) dramatic children's programs. Three quality standards considered most important were comprehensibility, aesthetic quality, and elicitation of involvement. Additional standards were entertainment, absence of detrimental effects, credibility, and presence of role models. (Author/AEF)
