This article describes the strategic activism of educational leaders who promote social justice. Given the risks, educational leaders need to be strategic about the ways in which they pursue their activism. Citing current research, this article explores the ways in which leaders strategically pursue their social justice agendas within their own organizations. In particular, it describes their strategic deliberations, their quest to understand the organizations in which they work, the manner in which they position themselves and the kinds of strategies that they employ to promote social justice.
