The list of 83 institutions considered in the tables within this bulletin includes all the fully organized state and territorial institutions and in addition such other institutions of higher education as are supported, at least in part, by the several States and Territories. Fifty-one of the institutions in the list, in addition to receiving support from the State or Territory, also enjoy the benefit of the Morrill Act of 1890 and the Nelson Amendment of 1907. Table 1 presents certain data representing the student body and teaching force of the institutions in question. Table 2 gives the salaries of the president and teachers, and the income of the several institutions distributed according to its chief sources. Table 3 gives other fiscal items concerning which questions are very frequently raised. (Contains 3 tables.) [Best copy available has been provided.]
