Effects of Socioeconomic Status on Success Indicators within Transition Readiness in Kentucky
Robertson, James B. Andrew
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Morehead State University
This study sought to examine transition readiness rates in the state of Kentucky to gauge if there was any difference based on socioeconomic status (SES). Public school districts were identified and data was gathered to determine transition readiness rates as well as data to determine SES. Free and reduced meal (FARM) rates were used to determine the SES of districts which were then categorized into low, median, and high SES. District transition, academic, and career readiness rates from the 2015-2019 academic years data was examined to determine if there were statistical differences. Based on a rejection of seven out of 12 null hypotheses, data reflected that there were significant statistical variances in the results as determined by SES. This suggests that there are significant statistical differences with the transition and academic readiness rate at public school districts within Kentucky based on district SES.
